Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced office, specializing in pain management and neurology. This role involves rooming patients, collecting vitals, conducting blood pressure tests, and screening patients based on provider-specific questions. You will document health information in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) using Athena, complete urine screens for drug testing, and manage specimens from assignment to shipment. There is potential for administering injections or taking blood samples, as well as setting up injection trays for physicians.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and collect vital signs.
- Perform blood pressure tests and screen patients based on provider-specific questions.
- Document health information in Electronic Medical Records (Athena).
- Complete urine screens for drug testing, assign specimen cups, obtain specimens, bag, and label samples for shipment.
- Set up injection trays for physicians with potential for administering injections or taking blood samples.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems, particularly Athena (experience with other platforms is acceptable).
- Minimum of 1 year of medical assistant experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel to various locations including Toms River and Neptune.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Back office medical assisting experience required.
- Experience with phlebotomy is preferred but not required.
- Ability to travel to specified locations.
Work Environment
This position offers a typical work schedule of Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with potential for earlier start or later end based on patient needs. The work environment includes multiple locations, including Neptune City and surrounding areas. Physicians see 20-30 patients daily, many of whom are returning, allowing for quick turnaround times. The dress code consists of dark solid scrubs and closed-toe shoes. The office promotes from within, offering opportunities for advancement to trainer or team lead roles. The role is ideal for someone accustomed to working in Urgent Care settings, with no weekend requirements.
