Job Description
The role is responsible for providing frontline technical support to internal end users, ensuring continuity of services within a regulated biorepository and laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary technical owner of infrastructure platforms including Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, VMware vSphere, AWS cloud workloads (EC2, RDS, IAM), and enterprise storage (PowerScale, FlashBladeE).
• Proactively maintain, improve, and optimize infrastructure for performance, security, and scalability.
• Lead the planning and execution of upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management activities.
• Ensure systems meet all applicable security and regulatory standards (HIPAA, FDA, FISMA/NIST, GDPR) through hardening, access controls, and patch management.
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting across infrastructure layers (compute, storage, network, cloud).
• Support and enhance backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
• Leverage PowerShell (required) and other scripting tools to automate administration and improve efficiency.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation for systems, processes, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with internal IT, MSP partners, and business stakeholders to ensure infrastructure services meet organizational needs.

• Perform related responsibilities as needed
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Experience in a regulated environment
• 10+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering or systems administration roles with demonstrable ownership of enterprise systems.
Expert-level proficiency in:
• Windows Server administration and troubleshooting
• Active Directory (design, security, GPO management)
• Office 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Azure AD)
• VMware vSphere (design, administration, troubleshooting)
• Strong experience managing AWS infrastructure (EC2, RDS, IAM, VPC networking).
Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a standard schedule and no travel requirements. The role is 100% onsite in Piscataway, with limited remote flexibility for illness or extenuating circumstances. Occasional off-hours support may be needed for critical needs, and weekend work is very rare, reserved for special projects. The team consists of three people.
