Job Description
This role offers an opportunity for an experienced Medical Assistant to support a busy outpatient sports medicine practice. You will prepare exam rooms and charts in advance, ensure patients are ready when the physician arrives, and help maintain an efficient, fast-paced clinic flow. The position focuses on patient intake, confirming key clinical information, and supporting procedures so that each visit runs smoothly and on time.
Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms daily, including restocking supplies and ensuring all equipment is ready for use.
- Complete chart preparation for the following day, including reviewing the Athena schedule so that patient charts are organized and ready before the physician arrives.
- Ensure patients are ready when the physician comes on site by confirming medications, allergies, and relevant clinical information.
- Coordinate and obtain imaging in advance, including confirming x-rays are ordered and completed, verifying that prior images are available, and ensuring image disks are up and running before the visit.
- Set up injections and other minor procedures by preparing the room, supplies, and necessary documentation.
- Perform focused patient intake, primarily confirming information rather than completing a full set of vital signs, to support efficient in-and-out visits.
- Provide professional, courteous customer service to all patients, including those with sports-related injuries, arthritis, and post-surgical rehabilitation needs.
- Support a high-volume clinic that may see up to 100 patients per day by staying organized, proactive, and responsive to changing needs.
- Collaborate closely with nursing and medical assistant colleagues in a sports medicine environment, contributing to a positive and supportive team culture.
- Demonstrate a flexible, "say yes" approach by assisting with additional clinical or administrative tasks as needed to keep the practice running smoothly.
- Minimum of 1 year of medical assistant experience in a clinical setting.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.
- Accredited diploma from a recognized Medical Assistant school.
- Experience with outpatient care as a medical assistant or outpatient care technician.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced sports medicine practice with high patient volume.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients of all ages.
- Ability to stay organized and detail-oriented while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Ideally 2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient or sports medicine environment.
- Experience supporting patients with sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations, tendonitis, bursitis, concussions, overuse injuries, arthritis, and post-surgical rehabilitation.
- Comfort collaborating with highly organized clinical staff and adapting to established workflows.
- Mellow, steady demeanor that contributes to a calm and cooperative team environment.
- Positive, "say yes" attitude with a willingness to help wherever needed in the clinic.

The clinic often operates at a high volume and may see up to 100 patients in a day, requiring staff to work efficiently and collaboratively. You will work closely with a sports medicine surgeon and a small, highly organized clinical team that includes nursing and medical assistant colleagues. The schedule is full-time and guaranteed at 40 hours per week, with hours generally running Monday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (or 12:00 p.m.), Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (or 1:00 p.m.), and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., all at a single Bridgewater-area location. Thursday hours may be adjusted to ensure a consistent 40-hour workweek.
