Job Title: Manual Machinist

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Manual Machinist to join our close-knit team. In this role, you’ll perform layouts, set up, and operate conventional machine tools with precision. You’ll interpret complex drawings—including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing—and design setup methods when none exist. Beyond machining, you’ll play a key role in mentoring shop personnel and driving continuous improvement to enhance quality and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform layouts and operate conventional machine tools with accuracy.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, including GD&T.
• Develop setup methods for unique or complex projects.
• Train and guide other shop personnel in proper machining techniques.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, quality, and efficiency.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Hands-on experience with Manual Mill, Lathe, and combined Mill & Lathe operations.
• Ability to operate a Horizontal Boring Mill.
• Strong blueprint reading and manual machining proficiency.
• Skilled in precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, grinders).
• Completion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent training.
• Proven ability to hold close tolerances and inspect components.
• Experience setting up tools such as ID/OD Grinders, Engine Lathe, Horizontal & Vertical Boring Mills, Radial Drill, and Planer Mill.
• Minimum of 4 years in machine shop operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience running a Planer Mill.
• Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills.
• Flexibility to work overtime when needed.

This is a Permanent position based out of Swedesboro, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
