Job Title: Phlebotomist - Full Time Vegas Phlebotomist
Job Description
The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and conduct decontamination.
- Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods, such as urine or fecal collection, in a clear and courteous manner.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understand and comply with all physicians' orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
- Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match scripts with 100% accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport and store them according to the required temperature.
- Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and accurately label them.
- Follow procedures specific to protocols necessary for maintaining specimen integrity during transport.
- Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Essential Skills
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Some experience working for an OBGYN

Work Environment
The work environment involves a fast-paced laboratory setting. Employees must adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations, and they will be expected to attend annual department trainings. The role may require interacting with patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations. The position requires proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite. Hours: M-F 8a-5p.
