Job Title: Substation Construction Manager

Job Description

The Substation Construction Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient completion of substation construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of safety protocols, coordination with various stakeholders, and meticulous attention to construction quality and project documentation.


Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and enforce safety protocols on the job site, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed effectively.
  • Perform inspections, maintain QA/QC documents, and audit construction quality, ensuring adherence to standards and specifications.
  • Maintain open communication with team members, clients, and other stakeholders throughout the project.
  • Keep detailed records of construction activities, progress reports, and safety inspections.
  • Lead and manage construction, including monitoring tasks, providing feedback, and resolving conflicts.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of electrical schematics, mechanical, civil, and steel structural drawings.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may arise during construction to keep the project on track.
  • Familiarity with concrete work, flat foundations, drill piers, breaker pads, and GSU containment pits.
  • Work with EPC to resolve requests for information (RFI) and change orders.
  • Perform material procurement and material take-offs.
  • Review projects after completion to report successes, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work safely near equipment energized at hazardous voltage levels.
  • Lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials in hazardous environments and across uneven ground.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Promote open communication with direct reports to enhance teamwork and report issues.
  • Support commissioning efforts through energization.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in enforcing safety protocols and compliance with industry standards.
  • Broad understanding of company policies and procedures.
  • Experience in leading and managing construction projects.
  • Vast knowledge of electrical schematics, mechanical, civil, and steel structural drawings.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Project) and specialized software for substation construction.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with concrete work, flat foundations, drill piers, breaker pads, and GSU containment pits.
  • Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials in hazardous environments.
  • Experience in reviewing project outcomes and identifying areas for improvement.

Work Environment

The position offers a remote work environment, allowing for flexibility and adaptability across various project locations.


Job Type & Location

Located in Nevada. GSA per diem x7 days per week
