Job Title: Substation Construction Manager-Level 4 - Lead (15+ Years)
Job Description

The Construction Manager (CM) is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and successful execution of substation and transmission construction projects. As the primary liaison between field activities and the General Manager, the CM ensures adherence to engineering design, contract requirements, environmental regulations, safety standards, and project schedules. This role typically involves 20% office responsibilities and 80% field oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Review and understand all contract documents.
  • Coordinate with the Safety team and review contractor Safety Plan.
  • Conduct kickoff meetings and orientations.
  • Understand permits, agreements, drawings, schedules, QA/QC, submittals.
  • Set expectations and train the team.
  • Identify project location and assess site conditions.
  • Determine whether the site is greenfield or brownfield and assess access and constraints.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and engineering packages.
  • Define structures, equipment, and systems required.
  • Identify demolition needs and align with engineering documents.
  • Ensure schedule adherence, monitor milestones, and manage timelines.
  • Escalate delays and track project milestones.
  • Manage material deliveries, storage, and verify specifications.
  • Track material shortages and damages.
  • Confirm permits and ensure environmental and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate crossing approvals.
  • Encourage a proactive safety culture and conduct daily safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications through daily walkdowns and document progress.
  • Collect data, submit weekly reports, and manage team reporting.
  • Track fiscal variances, review invoices, and identify cost drivers.
  • Ensure compliance with contracts and address non‑conformances.
  • Maintain strong contractor relationships and communicate with project management.
  • Direct public inquiries and coordinate resources.
Essential Skills
  • 15+ years of experience in substation or industrial construction.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and relevant software.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with project management and fiscal oversight.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and maintain strong relationships.
Work Environment

The position is primarily based in Nevada and involves 80% fieldwork and 20% office responsibilities. The work environment is focused on renewable power projects within a dynamic and safety-conscious culture.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Searchlight, NV.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $67.00 - $70.00/hr.
