Job Title: Design Engineer
Job Description
The position is responsible for the design, development, and lifecycle management of heavy-duty alternators for trucks, buses, military, and specialty vehicles. The role involves working in a global team setting to design next-generation alternators from concept to production.
Responsibilities
- Design next-generation alternators from concept to production in a global team setting.
- Utilize advanced CAD modeling and engineering data management.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams on design for manufacturability and tooling.
- Lead product testing to meet customer and industry standards.
- Conduct design reviews and maintain DFMEAs.
- Manage project plans aligned with TS and APQP standards.
Essential Skills
- Strong mechanical design experience.
- Proficiency in 3D Modeling and CAD tools such as Creo and SolidWorks.
- Experience in mechanical engineering and new product development.
- Proficiency in GD&T.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME/MS) or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of electromechanical design, including AC generators and DC alternators.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- FEA experience, specifically in magnetics or stress analysis, is preferred.
- Familiarity with 5S, Lean Six Sigma, Windchill, Minitab, and tolerance analysis.
- Strong project leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
Work Environment
The work environment consists of 80% office setting and 20% hands-on product development with cross-functional teams. The company is a world-class supplier of heavy-duty starting motors and alternators, one of the last manufacturers of starters and alternators in the United States.
