Job Title: Engineering Technician

Job Description

• As an Engineering Technician, you will provide critical materials testing and observation services for projects involving roadways, bridges, airports, large commercial developments, and remediation.
• You will conduct field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
• Your role includes performing tests and inspections as directed, documenting findings clearly, and conducting basic data analysis to ensure accuracy before reporting to the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials.
• Document findings and results clearly and accurately.
• Conduct basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before submission.
• Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
• Train lower-level technicians depending on experience.
• Maintain equipment and ensure proper calibration.

Essential Skills

• At least one year of experience in field testing.
• Proficiency in using a laptop computer with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• ACI certification and experience as a materials technician.
• Ability to operate a nuclear density gauge.
• Valid driver's license.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with ICC, Special Inspector certifications.
• Ability to pass a drug/BG check (THC permissible).
• Familiarity with scheduling and dispatching technicians to project sites.

Work Environment

• The role involves 95% fieldwork with typical working hours from Monday to Friday, 8-12 hour days.
• Summer may entail longer hours than winter, with no guaranteed 40-hour workweek due to industry demands.
• The position is based in either Buffalo, Rochester, or Syracuse office, with weekly travel across Upstate New York.
• The environment includes a full-functioning lab with a small team, and the use of company vehicles such as a Ford F-150.
