Job Title: Assistant Superintendent


Job Description

We are seeking an Assistant Superintendent to join our dynamic team. Our firm is recognized among the nation's top A/E firms, providing construction management, engineering, environmental, architectural, and program management solutions. This position will be stationed in the person, NY, working on projects for the NYS Office of General Services (OGS).


Responsibilities

  • Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with building standards and project specifications.
  • Inspect all material upon arrival to the jobsite to ensure compliance.
  • Document inspections and report any issues.
  • Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors, consultants, inspectors, and vendors to complete each project on time.
  • Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project.
  • Communicate with the project team and support each subcontractor to execute their job duties effectively and efficiently.
  • Perform inspections or schedule inspectors to meet the varying safety and compliance regulations of each job location.
  • Maintain a written daily log of visitors, job actions performed, materials expended, and problems resolved on the job site.
  • Travel between multiple job sites and simultaneously manage workloads of individual projects.
  • Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, organizing meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum three years of trade experience or comparable training in inspection of large-scale building projects valued above $1 million.
  • Ability to understand and interpret contract documents including specifications and drawings.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with the Uniform Building Code.
  • Proficient with web-based submittal collaboration system.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and a collaborative approach working with both clients and construction contractors/subcontractors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Willingness to work inside minimum and maximum security prisons.
  • Experienced in new building construction, major renovations, civil work, and the installation and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Ability to maintain field and office records and perform quantity computations.
  • Willingness to respond to calls outside of normal hours and occasionally work extra hours to meet project needs.

Work Environment

The work environment involves direct site management at various correctional facilities within these locations: person, NY, Saranac Lake, NY. The role requires travel between multiple job sites and managing workloads of individual projects simultaneously. The position demands a high level of autonomy and the ability to interpret contract documents, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
