Job Title: Clinical Budgets Specialist
Job Description
The Clinical Budgets Specialist reviews, negotiates, and manages clinical study budgets, grants, and contracts across a defined portfolio of clinical research projects. This role ensures that financial and contractual terms align with institutional requirements and sponsor expectations, while supporting clinical research staff in a virtual work environment.
Responsibilities
- Review and negotiate clinical study budgets, ensuring terms align with institutional standards and sponsor requirements.
- Secure all necessary internal stakeholder approvals for study budgets and related financial documents.
- Obtain required approvals from Clinical Trials Office (CTO) or Sponsored Programs for budgets and agreements.
- Manage all aspects of a defined portfolio of grants and contracts, including initial setup, ongoing oversight, and closeout.
- Oversee budget management for assigned grants and contracts, including regular expenditure reviews to ensure appropriate use of funds.
- Coordinate the creation, review, and timely submission of progress reports for sponsors and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and oversee subrecipient activity to ensure compliance with financial and contractual obligations.
- Manage extensions, amendments, and closeout activities for grants and contracts in the assigned portfolio.
- Review and edit agreements and contractual documents for accuracy, compliance, and consistency with negotiated terms.
- Submit edited agreements for signatory review and approval, tracking their progress through the execution process.
- Follow up on queries or revision requests related to agreements until fully executed by all signatories.
- Oversee the processing of contract amendments, ensuring timely review, approval, and implementation.
- Manage the processing of industry agreements, including Confidentiality Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs), Services Agreements, and other related documents.
- Generate or provide request-for-proposal (RFP) or request-for-funding (RF) templates when needed, or review and work from sponsor-provided templates.
- Collaborate virtually with clinical research staff to support budget development, contract negotiation, and ongoing financial management for clinical studies.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated experience in clinical research budgeting and financial management.
- Proven ability to review, negotiate, and manage study budgets for clinical research projects.
- Strong skills in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts and agreements.
- Ability to negotiate study budgets with sponsors and stakeholders.
- Experience managing grants and contracts, including budget oversight and expenditure review.
- Proficiency in managing industry agreements such as CDAs, CTAs, and Services Agreements.
- Strong attention to detail in reviewing and editing contractual documents.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clinical research staff and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple agreements and deadlines within a defined portfolio.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- 3+ years of related experience in clinical research, budgeting, contracts, or grants management.
- Experience coordinating progress reports and managing subrecipient activity.
- Familiarity with CTO or Sponsored Programs processes and approvals.
- Experience working with sponsor-provided templates and institutional templates for agreements.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of East Syracuse, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $37.00 - $39.00/hr.
