Job Title: Environmental Scientist
Job Description
The role of Environmental Scientist involves a balanced mix of office and field work, with approximately 70% of the time spent in the office and 30% in the field. You will work under general direction with reasonable latitude to determine the technical objectives of your assignments. Your work will be reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. You will perform hydrogeological assessments and groundwater remediation at specific sites, including proposals for obtaining new data. Staying updated on new regulations and procedures is essential. You will provide leadership to less experienced scientists and technicians through work assignments, monitoring schedules, and resolving problems. You may act as the lead person or technical expert on small to medium projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex field inspections and studies of sites proposed for investigation, including topography, sensitive environmental receptors, and exposed geological formations.
- Provide technical supervision on the collection and interpretation of field data.
- Coordinate full-time inspection of geotechnical and hydrogeological site investigations, including supervising technicians, drill crews, and tank removals.
- Perform geological literature searches and routine and complex analyses to evaluate the impact on geological formations involved in the excavation of tanks and subsurface investigations.
- Evaluate both routine and complex laboratory and boring data and samples, generating geologic and rock profiles for reports.
- Compose routine and complex hydrogeological reports based on approved work plans, including recommendations for senior scientist approval.
- Prepare proposals on routine and complex projects.
- Supervise the development of the scope of subsurface investigations, geological assessments, and other special field or laboratory tests.
- Assess the physical and chemical properties of soil and rock formations and other pertinent hydrogeologic conditions.
- Oversee and implement remedial pilot testing.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all field activities, maintaining compliance with environmental regulations.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Farmingdale, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
