Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Office Assistant to join our clinical team. This role involves providing vital clinical support, ensuring efficient patient flow, and maintaining patient care standards. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to quality healthcare and patient service.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient patient flow and prepare treatment rooms and equipment for examinations.
  • Provide appropriate procedural support by adhering to department-specific guidelines.
  • Perform initial patient intake, including interviews to obtain the chief complaint, vital signs, and allergy information.
  • Record and update relevant patient information accurately.
  • Conduct daily Quality Controls (QC) for all Point of Care (POC) testing.
  • Obtain specimens and perform patient POC testing per policy.
  • Under provider or RN direction, track and retrieve patient lab/diagnostic testing results for timely provider review.
  • Assist in the administrative functions of the patient prescription renewal process.
  • Provide cross coverage for other clinical roles as needed.
  • Support departmental medical record audits and maintain inventories of medical supplies.
  • Stock patient care rooms and maintain patient-related forms and educational materials.
  • Utilize equipment appropriately and report any breakdowns or damage to the Practice Manager.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of consistent experience preferred.
  • Medical assisting skills, including patient care and phlebotomy.
  • Proficiency in cardiology and internal medicine procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification.
  • Competence in appointment scheduling and front desk operations.
  • Excellent data entry and administrative support capabilities.
  • Ability to take manual vitals, operate holter monitors, and perform EKGs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Diploma required.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience with electronic patient records and Epic software is advantageous.
  • Ability to travel to satellite locations may be required.
  • Awareness of safety needs, infection control, and risk management.

Work Environment

The Medical Office Assistant will work across two offices located in East Hills and Plainview. The shift is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM or 9 AM to 5 PM, with an 8-hour shift including a half-hour unpaid lunch. There are no weekend work requirements. The position requires familiarity with medical equipment and procedures, and the candidate should demonstrate support for the organization's mission, vision, values, and goals

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenvale, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
