Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to support R&D and manufacturing operations in a fast-paced, shop-floor–focused environment. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys practical problem-solving, working directly with hardware, and supporting a wide range of day-to-day technical needs. This is not a desk-only or purely analytical engineering role.
Responsibilities
- Use SolidWorks for basic part modeling, fixture design, and simple design changes.
- Support 3D printing and rapid prototyping, including preparation and post-processing.
- Collaborate with R&D on fixture concepts, prototype iterations, and design improvements.
- Provide production support, including process documentation and hands-on troubleshooting.
- Build and assemble prototypes and test fixtures.
- Provide first-line computer and IT support on the shop floor (PCs, printers, basic connectivity).
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3–6 years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing, R&D, or product development environments.
- Working experience with SolidWorks.
- Experience or exposure to 3D printing / rapid prototyping.
- Comfortable working directly in a manufacturing or lab setting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to wear multiple hats and support a variety of day-to-day tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Fixture or tooling design experience.
- Prototype build and test support.
- Manufacturing process documentation.
- Experience in medical devices, precision manufacturing, or R&D environments.
Work Environment
The position is based on-site in a manufacturing and R&D environment. It requires hands-on involvement and offers a dynamic and fast-paced setting. The role involves direct interaction with hardware and practical problem-solving on the shop floor
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Syracuse, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00/hr.
