As a Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer, you’ll own critical system designs, guide and develop junior engineers, and play a visible role in delivering high-quality, code-compliant solutions across a wide range of building types. What You’ll Do
- Own the discipline — Lead the plumbing and fire protection design scope from concept through construction.
- Mentor with intent — Guide junior engineers through thoughtful redlines, real-time feedback, and hands-on teaching.
- Design with confidence — Independently develop systems that balance performance, constructability, and code compliance.
- Lead coordination efforts — Act as the plumbing & fire protection voice in multidisciplinary meetings, both internally and externally.
- Elevate quality — Reinforce excellence across all project phases through rigorous QA/QC and disciplined documentation.
- Solve complex challenges — Apply sound engineering judgment to system sizing, flow, pressure, and unique design conditions.
- Be client-facing — Manage clear, professional communication with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Set the standard — Contribute foresight, leadership presence, and accountability to every project you touch.
🛠️ What You Bring
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or related Engineering field.
- 4+ years of progressive plumbing and fire protection design experience.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Proven expertise in system sizing, flow rates, and pressure calculations.
- Experience across multiple building types and occupancies.
- Solid understanding of applicable codes, standards, and real-world construction practices.
- Clear communicator with confidence in client-facing environments.
Nice to Have
- Revit proficiency.
- EIT or PE certification.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Polished, professional written and verbal communication.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48.00 - $60.00/hr.
