Position can be performed from any US location.

Position Description:
Oversee, lead, and direct team of claims professionals and the expansive portfolio of civil construction clients' large, high exposure, and complex claims including but not limited to general liability, builders' risk, professional liability, pollution and workers' compensation claims.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage complex and high exposure insurable claims across all lines of business including but not limited to general liability, builders' risk, professional liability, pollution and workers' compensation claims, specific to civil construction.
  • Provide direction of work, assign claims, and serve as regional escalation point for Insurance and Claims teams
  • Lead investigation of high-risk claims, gather data, prepare claim submission, and identify potentially fraudulent claims.
  • Analyze loss data and make recommendations for claim settlement and reserves to client leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Oversee settlement of claims up to permitted settlement authority.
  • Lead and strategize litigation oversight, strategy, and direction with clients' leadership and Legal department.
  • Review legal strategy and documents produced for litigation and mediation statements.
  • Attend trials, mediations, and arbitrations as required.
  • Actively participate in and provide thorough and reliable guidance to claims and insurance teams for crisis response within assigned region and assigned clients.
  • Participate in content development and facilitation for claims related training for stakeholders.
  • Participate in and advise on clients' safety, environmental, operations, and/or legal meetings.
  • Prepare Executive Summaries for complex and significant claims.
  • Organize meetings with financial and project leaders to review claims on quarterly report.
  • Lead claim review process with insurers. Ensure compliance of claim handling protocols, and assess and set reserves, and settlement authority range.
  • Participate in domestic and international risk and/or claim related projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Deliver timely performance feedback for team and execute and contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree from accredited program in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or related field of study; and with minimum of 10 years of experience in Insurance, Risk Management, or Claims with concentration on construction industry; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
    • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Claims (AIC), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or similar insurance designation, desired
    • Construction industry (civil is a plus) or related risk management experience, highly preferred
    • Experience working with general liability, builders' risk, professional liability, pollution and workers' compensation claims
    • Knowledge of jurisdictional tort laws and regulations associated with assigned region
    • OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) knowledge and experience desired; OSHA 30-hour certification, a plus
    • Seasoned negotiation and influencing skills
    • Strong understanding ofcontracts and insurancedocuments
    • Strong process and critical thinking skills with sound judgement decision-making
    • Analytical and adept at processing and breaking down data into actionable information
    • Strong organizationalmanagement skills,capable ofdirecting,managing, and developingremote teams
    • Self-starter with strong project management skills and capable of managing concurrent complex projects and tasks successfully to completion
      strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills with ability to work across organizational levels, both internal and external
    • Professional written and verbal communication, and effective presentation skills
    • Proficient in computer skills, Microsoft Office suite of applications, and insurance-based risk management information systems
    • Regular travel: travel modes include air, train, vehicle, and international travel as needed

The employee is regularly required to be mobile, and the employee regularly travels both short and long distances via a variety of conveyances. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The employee performs work on-site at construction work sites, office locations, and/or off-site venues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office or remote setting. The noise in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work at construction work sites where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in the construction work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

    * The salary range for this position in NYC is estimated to be $166K-247K
    * The salary range for this position in Chicago is estimated to be $140K-$209K
    * The salary range for this position in Seattle is estimated to be $150K-$224K
    * The salary range for this position in Denver is estimated to be $150K-$224K
    * The salary range for this position in Washington DC is estimated to be $140K-$209K
    * The salary range for this position in California is estimated to be $166K-247K

    Actual compensation packages within that range are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.
