Hiring a Bilingual Phlebotomist in Lower Manhattan, NY

We are seeking a Bilingual Phlebotomist with over two years of recent experience in phlebotomy. The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles, capable of performing venipunctures independently from day one, and possess strong communication skills. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.


Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and conduct decontamination procedures.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established protocols.
  • Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes to patients.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
  • Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience.
  • Proficiency with straight needles and independent venipuncture.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Strong communication and reliability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Environment

The position is based at a new Patient Service Center (PSC) in Lower Manhattan, handling 30-50 patients daily, with a capacity of up to 60. The schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8am to 5pm; Tuesday and Thursday from 8am to 5:30pm; with every other Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
