Job Description
The HVAC Design Engineer will be responsible for designing mechanical systems, including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air and hydronic distribution systems, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation, and controls. The role involves performing system design calculations and analyzing mechanical system options using industry-standard engineering and energy modeling software. The candidate must be knowledgeable of all relevant building codes and standards, and will prepare design documents to detail mechanical systems in basis of design reports, drawings (Revit), and specification formats. The engineer will review design deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and presentation quality, and coordinate work with architects and engineers from other disciplines. This position includes work on mission-critical projects and healthcare projects.
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical systems, including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air and hydronic distribution systems, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation, and controls.
- Perform system design calculations and analyze mechanical system options using industry-standard engineering and energy modeling software.
- Ensure knowledge of all relevant building codes and standards.
- Prepare design documents to detail mechanical systems in basis of design reports, drawings (Revit), and specification formats.
- Review design deliverables to assure technical accuracy and presentation quality.
- Coordinate work with architects and engineers from other disciplines.
- Work on mission-critical projects and healthcare projects.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 2-15 years of experience working as an HVAC Design Engineer
- Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD MEP
- Experience working on commercial, industrial, healthcare, and other project types
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Self-motivated and enjoys collaborative problem solving
- Good planning, organizational, and communication skills
- EIT/PE certification
