Job Title: Lab Assistant
Job Description
As a Lab Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing vial pans by rinsing them with Water for Injection (W.F.I.) and using the Cozzoli GW-24 Vial Wash Unit for washing vials. You will label all vial pans with pertinent product information, prepare media according to manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and complete relevant batch paperwork. Additional tasks include cleaning glassware, operating an autoclave, and checking equipment logbooks and calibrations. Cross-training for additional lab responsibilities will also be provided.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vial pans by rinsing with Water for Injection.
- Operate the Cozzoli GW-24 Vial Wash Unit to wash vials.
- Label vial pans with pertinent product information.
- Prepare media following manufacturing SOPs and complete batch paperwork.
- Clean glassware and run the autoclave.
- Check equipment logbooks and ensure calibrations are up to date.
- Engage in cross-training for additional lab responsibilities.
Essential Skills
- Basic laboratory skills in handling and processing.
- Experience with autoclaves and glassware cleaning.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
- Strong communication skills with an assertive and outspoken personality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and write in English and perform basic math.
- Previous lab experience is an advantage but not required.
- Training will be provided for the role.
- Preference for candidates without a Bachelor's degree.
Work Environment
The role is set in a fast-paced environment where you will be part of a team supporting lab operations. You will handle lifting 17-21 pound metal trays, inverting them, and occasionally lifting empty glass carboys for cleaning. The job requires standing for long periods and lifting trays of raw materials weighing up to 35 pounds. Work hours are Monday to Friday, with shifts from 10/11am to 6/7pm. Training takes 2-25 months and occurs from 6:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. Enjoy paid holiday and sick time.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Washington, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
