We are seeking a skilled Material Laboratory Technician to support the establishment and daily operation of a newly developed laboratory. This role is designed for an experienced technician capable of working independently, executing certified materials testing, and assisting field and operations teams.
Responsibilities- Perform certified materials laboratory testing, including concrete compressive strength testing, aggregate testing, and soil testing (Soils Level I & II).
- Conduct proctors and gradations tests.
- Ensure all testing aligns with applicable standards such as ACI, ASTM, ICC, and Terracon procedures.
- Operate independently in the lab with minimal oversight.
- Assist with the setup, organization, and development of the new lab facility.
- Maintain accurate documentation, test records, and quality control logs.
- Coordinate with field technicians, project managers, and operations staff to support active projects.
- Coordinate with contractors for field-testing, pre and post concrete inspection, and approval processes.
- Collect soil samples, dry them in the oven, and sieve to obtain the required size.
- Experience in a Chemical or Civil Materials Lab.
- Ability to perform compressive strength testing and aggregate testing.
- Proficiency in chemistry and environmental science.
- Active certifications or ability to obtain quickly, such as ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I and Soils Level I & II.
- Certifications in aggregate testing and civil testing.
The work environment is primarily laboratory-based. The role includes working independently with minimal supervision, ensuring adherence to industry standards, and supporting field operations. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Syracuse, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $35.00/hr.
