Job Title: Transmission Line Engineer


Job Description

As a Transmission Line Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting the design development, implementation, and technical analysis of various systems to implement new products or changes to existing schemes, tailored to individual client needs. You will monitor progress and performance against the project plan, address operational problems promptly to minimize delays, and correct technical discrepancies in analytical results. Additionally, you will identify, develop, and gather necessary technical resources to complete assignments and perform field assignments when appropriate.


Responsibilities

  • Design and develop systems for overhead transmission projects.
  • Monitor project progress and address operational issues to minimize delays.
  • Identify and gather technical resources necessary for project completion.
  • Conduct field assignments as needed.
  • Visit clients regularly for status updates and discussions on project challenges.
  • Attend kick-off meetings on job sites approximately twice a month.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in transmission line design.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
  • Proficiency with PLS-Suite and Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong working knowledge of engineering principles and their practical application.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Experience with engineering, computational, and modeling software (such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, BlueBeam, FAD, LPile).
  • Participation in a professional engineering society/organization is preferred.
  • Experience working with National Grid or similar utilities is beneficial.

Work Environment

The role offers a hybrid schedule, with the flexibility to work from home, the office, job sites, and the client office. Collaborative work culture with minimal micromanagement. The office is located close to the national grid office, facilitating regular client visits.
