R&D Engineering Technician – 2nd Shift (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM)

Overview:

The R&D Engineering Technician supports engineering teams by assembling, modifying, installing, and decommissioning HVAC units for psychrometric testing. This hands-on role requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and collaboration with engineering staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and modify HVAC units per engineering specifications
  • Install thermocouples, sensors, and test instrumentation
  • Set up units in psychrometric test rooms
  • Decommission units post-testing
  • Interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics
  • Operate power tools, hand tools, and overhead cranes

Required Skills & Certifications:

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification (mandatory)
  • Mechanical and electrical assembly experience
  • HVAC systems knowledge at the component level
  • Basic electrical wiring understanding
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work from written and verbal instructions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years in a technical or business environment
  • 1+ year experience in HVAC, electrical wiring, and reading technical drawings
