Job Title: Assistant Traffic Engineer
Job Description
As an Assistant Traffic Engineer, you will be the primary data collector in the field, arranging and overseeing data collection tasks. You will undertake specific portions of broader assignments under the guidance of an experienced engineer, perform standard computations, intermediate engineering analysis, and create drawings and visual aids. You will observe construction activities, maintain equipment inventory, and perform signal design tasks and quantity estimates. Your role will also involve attending project meetings with senior staff, writing report sections, performing basic QA/QC tasks, and providing limited supervision to technicians. Furthermore, you will coordinate with municipalities and agencies regarding background volumes, accident data, and signal timings, and develop and analyze trip generation and volume.
Responsibilities
- Collect and oversee data collection in the field.
- Perform standard computations and intermediate engineering analysis.
- Prepare drawings and visual aids.
- Observe construction activities and maintain equipment inventory.
- Conduct signal design tasks and quantity estimates.
- Attend project meetings and write report sections.
- Perform basic QA/QC tasks and review work of Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, and Technicians.
- Provide limited supervision to technicians.
- Coordinate with municipalities/agencies regarding background volumes, accident data, and signal timings.
- Develop and analyze trip generation and volume.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 2 years of experience in a similar engineering role.
- Experience in traffic engineering and analysis of roadways and signals.
- Experience in creating and preparing construction documents.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in INroads, AutoTurn, Synchro, Vissim, and GIS.
- Membership in professional practice organization (ASCE).
