Electrical Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Electrical Controls Engineer with an electrical and PLC focus to support the integration and modification of new machinery and automation systems into our production lines. This role involves equipment setup, AutoCAD updates, and collaboration with electrical systems, PLCs, and automation components.
Responsibilities
- Support the installation and modification of new industrial equipment, such as machining centers and grinders.
- Assist with line changes to accommodate new machinery and automation systems, including loaders, conveyors, and part handling.
- Modify and maintain AutoCAD drawings for panel and plant layouts.
- Write and update equipment specifications and documentation.
- Perform PLC programming and troubleshooting, with a preference for Mitsubishi systems, including GOT interface work.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of equipment into automated lines.
- Provide electrical support and hands-on assistance during equipment setup and commissioning.
- Understand robotic systems, with no major robot changes expected currently.
Essential Skills
- Manufacturing engineering experience
- Process engineering and improvement
- Experience with manufacturing and automation equipment
- PLC programming, preferably with Mitsubishi systems
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
- Project management skills
- Continuous improvement methodologies
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in equipment installation, automation, or maintenance
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, PLC logic, and automation functionality
- Experience with AutoCAD for panel and plant layout modifications
- Experience in maintenance or hands-on technical roles is a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment
This role is set in a manufacturing environment, with core hours typically running from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. There may be some overtime and weekend work during shutdowns or ramp-up periods. The work environment is fast-paced and collaborative, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and innovation. This position offers opportunities to work on cutting-edge automation and robotics, as well as exposure to continuous improvement methodologies such as PDCA and root cause analysis
