Job Title: Sr. Architectural Designer
Job Description
This full-service architectural and engineering firm delivers projects across a wide range of commercial industries, including national fitness brands, restaurant groups, retail concepts, corporate offices, and specialty commercial spaces. The Sr. Architectural Designer will focus on producing high-quality architectural drawings and construction documents for commercial tenant improvement and tenant finish projects, while closely coordinating with internal teams and consultants. This role offers a clear pathway to grow into a Junior Project Management position over time.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed architectural drawings and layouts using AutoCAD for commercial projects.
- Develop comprehensive construction documents and design packages that support project goals and schedules.
- Support commercial tenant finish and tenant improvement projects from design development through documentation.
- Coordinate architectural drawings with MEP engineering systems to ensure fully integrated design solutions.
- Assist with design documentation, including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and architectural details.
- Ensure all drawings and design documents align with established brand standards for national clients and retail programs.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to maintain documentation accuracy and quality across all project phases.
- Incorporate feedback from internal teams and consultants to refine drawings and resolve design or coordination issues.
- Contribute to design development efforts by translating conceptual ideas into clear, buildable documents.
- Support construction administration activities by updating drawings as needed and responding to documentation-related questions.
Essential Skills
- 3 to 5 years of experience in architecture or commercial design, with a focus on commercial or tenant improvement projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for architectural drafting and documentation.
- Experience producing architectural floor plans, ceiling plans, elevations, and details.
- Knowledge of commercial design and retail architecture standards.
- Ability to coordinate architectural drawings with MEP engineering systems.
- Experience with design development and construction documentation for commercial projects.
- Understanding of construction administration processes and documentation requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in drawings and project documents.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, architects, engineers, and other team members.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on national retail, fitness, restaurant, or corporate office projects.
- Familiarity with Revit and its use in architectural design and documentation.
- Experience in commercial tenant finish or tenant improvement project workflows.
- Ability to interpret and apply brand standards within architectural drawings.
- Strong design sensibility with the ability to translate concepts into clear construction documents.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external consultants.
- Interest in growing into a Junior Project Management role and taking on increased project responsibility over time.
Work Environment
The role is based within a collaborative architectural and engineering office that delivers commercial projects across the country. You will work closely with architects, designers, project managers, and MEP engineers, using tools such as AutoCAD and, where applicable, Revit to develop coordinated construction documents. The environment emphasizes accuracy, consistency with brand standards, and timely delivery of documentation for national clients in retail, fitness, restaurant, and corporate sectors. Work typically follows standard business hours, with periods of increased activity as project deadlines approach. The setting is professional, with a focus on teamwork, open communication, and continuous learning as you progress toward potential junior project management responsibilities. Professional office attire is expected.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cincinnati, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
