Job Title: Forklift Operator/ All Shifts/ 22hr+
Job Description
As a Forklift Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring that materials are efficiently and accurately handled within our facility. You will be responsible for managing inventory, operating a forklift, and maintaining the organization of storage areas.
Responsibilities
- Check the stack count list to ensure correct piece count and type of packaging.
- Complete an inspection time ticket before the end of the shift as per work instructions.
- Transfer materials as needed and organize storage areas by part number and heat codes.
- Maintain and operate the automated stretch wrap machine.
- Verify that materials are properly tagged before moving and ensure proper containers are at production and secondary operations.
- Maintain part number and heat code integrity at all times.
- Move chips, dust, and other scrap materials to designated scrapping areas.
- Report any mechanical or safety issues to the foreman immediately.
- Notify the foreman of any equipment or quality issues observed.
- Provide relief to employees for breaks and lunch as needed and handle department emergencies.
- Inspect forklift using the appropriate checklist and perform any required preventative maintenance.
- Report any damage to or by the tow motor to the Processing or Shipping Foreman immediately.
- Add or remove snow chains as required and load/unload trucks both indoors and outdoors.
- Visually check all received baskets for defects and determine appropriate disposition.
- Remove dust buckets or heavy garbage and place them in proper containers.
- Ensure all materials are properly tagged and weighed according to procedures.
- Remove scrap axles and place them in proper containers following work instructions.
- Remove foreign and tagging materials from customer dunnage.
- Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all safety and plant rules and regulations.
Essential Skills
- Forklift operation and certification
- 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- 1+ years of experience operating industrial forklifts
- Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with cranes, cherry pickers, bobcats, and tow motors
- Familiarity with steel manufacturing and material handling
- Experience with loading and unloading trucks, reach forklifts, and sit-down forklifts

Work Environment
This is a unionized forging environment that is heavy industrial and not temperature-controlled. Candidates must be open to all shifts, which include 1st (6:30am - 2:30pm), 2nd (2:30pm - 10:30pm), and 3rd (10:30pm - 6:30am). Overtime is applicable after 8 hours of work. Candidates placed on an off-shift receive an additional hourly rate. Ideal candidates should be comfortable in a heavy industrial setting and ready to contribute effectively from the start.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.62 - $24.62/hr.
