Job Title: Chemistry Laboratory SupervisorJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Chemistry Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the activities of our automated and special chemistry testing operations. In this role, you will work closely with a team to troubleshoot issues, correct errors, and ensure the smooth functioning of the department. Your leadership will be crucial in managing staff, scheduling procedures, and maintaining high laboratory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee departmental activities, distribute and assign work, and determine priorities.
  • Schedule non-routine procedures and perform supervisory functions, including interviewing, hiring, training, and staff development.
  • Conduct advanced and specialized tests, reevaluate methodologies, and assist in test interpretations.
  • Approve specialized and problem reports for accuracy and initiate quality-control measures.
  • Monitor the quality of work to ensure adherence to laboratory standards.
  • Complete special projects such as surveys, statistical reports, studies, and research.
  • Ensure compliance with all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
  • Participate in inspections by government or regulatory agencies.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Life Science, preferably Chemistry or Medical Laboratory Science.
  • 4-6 years of experience in a high-complexity clinical lab.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge in laboratory, MLS, chemistry, and ASCP.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • ASCP Certification Preferred - MLS or Chemistry C (ASCP).
  • Experience in a clinical chemistry lab is preferred.
Work Environment

The role is based in a very busy clinical laboratory environment with increasing volumes. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with rotating weekends. This is a Permanent position based out of Cleveland, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr.

Supervisor will be involved in the automated or special chemistry testing and working with team to correct errors, troubleshoot issues, etc. Oversee activities of the department, distribute/assign work, determine priorities, schedule non-routine procedures Perform supervisory functions for their assigned staff including interviewing, hiring, training and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling Perform advanced/specialized tests and other related laboratory techniques. May duplicate work of others to confirm test results. Re-evaluate methodology, make recommended changes and assists in test interpretation. Determine if further testing should be done on samples or if test should be repeated. Check/approve all specialized and problem reports for accuracy. Initiate quality-control measures and monitor quality of work for adherence to laboratory standards. Completes special projects as requested - surveys, statistical reports, studies, research, etc. Complete training and competency checklists Adheres to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and laboratory safety requirements Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections
