Daily-
- Lead Quality Control on production initiatives and safety goals that meet the overall goals of KMI
- Visit facilities/labs and help build, observe, and communicate our Safety 24/7 culture
- Review all GL’s, near hits or incidents investigations to ensure they are complete
- Work with mix design labs to make sure mixes are to customer specifications.
- Work with sales to make sure mixes are available and updated in our system
- Help QC team members at the labs when issues arise 24/7 - i.e. aggregate issues, mix issues, density lay down issues and scheduling conflicts
- Work with ODOT/OTIC/FAA and commercial customers on material issues or questions
- Support the Lead & Field Supervisors daily review of QC tests to verify completion and that all required information is accurately documented and reported to the project owner
- Maintain current knowledge of aggregate, paving, and asphalt plant processes
- Evaluate and reviews current DOT specifications and communicate to the team of any changes
- Attend daily scheduling meetings and resolve any production/QC conflicts
Weekly/Monthly-
- Attend scheduling meetings every two weeks and address any quality control concerns
- Attend monthly safety team meetings and weekly safety calls
Annually/Quarterly-
- Prepare the Quality Control Plan
- Lead performance reviews of the Quality Control team
- Prepare annual capital expenditure forecasts (Cap EX) for the VP
- Help coordinate and lead annual training for quality control and plant managers.
Other-
- Report all issues to the VP of Quality Control
- Be available all hours to support and facilitate the success of the team, particularly during the construction season
- Work closely with HR when personnel issues arise
- Help support the job posting and interviewing process
- Attend industry meeting and serve on the technical committee
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Understanding of ODOT Specifications
- 5+ years of related/applicable experience in quality control is required
- Demonstrated history of operations leadership in a construction-related setting is required
- ODOT Asphalt Concrete Technician Level 3, or equivalent from another state DOT
