We are hiring for a Histology Technician here in the Columbus area! This is a long-term career opportunity for someone who wants to grow in the field! This will be a 3rd shift position, but there might be some flexibility with the specific hours.
Candidates must have at least some experience working in a histology lab.

Job Description
This role supports surgical pathology by accurately identifying specimens and performing a full range of histology procedures, including processing, embedding, cutting, staining, and filing tissue samples for diagnostic evaluation. The histology technician prepares solutions and reagents, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment, documents quality control activities, manages supplies, and contributes to overall laboratory operations. The position requires a strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and continuous learning in a collaborative clinical laboratory setting.
Responsibilities
- Accurately identify and label tissue specimens to ensure proper tracking and diagnostic integrity.
- Process, orient, and embed tissue specimens according to tissue type and established protocols.
- Perform routine microtomy with efficiency and precision to produce high-quality tissue sections.
- Prepare stains and reagents for routine histological staining in accordance with laboratory procedures.
- Carry out routine histological staining and related techniques to support diagnostic evaluation by pathologists.
- Dispose of chemical waste safely and in full compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
- Conduct daily maintenance, calibration, and performance checks on laboratory equipment, and document all activities.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and procedural issues, escalating as appropriate to ensure minimal workflow disruption.
- Meet all quality control and proficiency testing standards required by regulatory and accrediting bodies.
- Participate actively in continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives, including data collection and process optimization.
- Engage in continuing education and professional development to stay current with evidence-based practices and laboratory protocols.
- Maintain inventory of reagents, supplies, and consumables, and restock according to established procedures.
- Use job-related computer systems and laboratory information systems effectively for documentation and workflow management.
- Travel to other clinical facilities as needed to support staffing needs and laboratory operations.
- Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, attention to detail, and strong communication skills when interacting with colleagues, patients, and vendors.
- Protect sensitive and confidential information in accordance with laboratory and organizational policies.
- Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned to support overall laboratory and departmental goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science OR completion of at least 24 semester hours in Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Physics, or related sciences.
- Prior experience working in a histology laboratory.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.84 - $35.76/hr.
