Maintenance Technician - $32/hr, Fremont, OH
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician performs preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role supports production by troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, participating in equipment installations and retrofits, and maintaining detailed documentation of all maintenance activities. The technician works with tooling, casting machines, casting molds, injection molding machines, and robotic systems while following strict safety protocols in a heavy industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Complete and document all preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
- Assist with special projects, including equipment installations, retrofits, and upgrades to support production needs.
- Work on tooling, casting machines, casting molds, and injection molding machines to maintain optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Repair and maintain robotic equipment as needed, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
- Perform tear downs, rebuilds, repairs, and installations of machinery and related components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment safely and effectively during maintenance and repair tasks.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams to diagnose and resolve equipment problems.
- Apply knowledge of 480V and 3-phase electrical systems when performing electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
- Help train and mentor newer maintenance technicians by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures at all times, including proper use of respirators and personal protective equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed, parts used, and equipment status.
- Collaborate with production and other departments to prioritize maintenance tasks and support operational goals.
- Work mandatory overtime, including staying over and weekends, as required to support production demands and equipment reliability.
- Adhere to all facility rules regarding uniforms, showers, and health monitoring related to lead exposure.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- HVAC experience is a plus.
- PLC experience is a plus.
- Comfort working in an environment where lead-acid batteries are produced for automotive and industrial applications.
- Willingness to participate in regular blood draws to monitor lead levels for health and safety.
- Ability to wear a half-mask and/or full-mask respirator as required by the role.
- Comfort working on second shift (for example, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.) with flexibility to stay over and work weekends as needed.
