This role involves working with microcontrollers, FPGAs, power supplies, protection, output drivers, and sensor signals circuitry. You will be tasked with designing schematics, controlling subsystems such as BLDC motors and actuators, and working from customer requirements and statements of work to determine systems and hardware requirements. Additionally, you will prepare design documentation, project schedules, and test reports, ensuring designs are suitable for rugged environments with extended temperatures, EMC, ESD, and vibration. Your role will also involve component selection and derating for high reliability in severe environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design electronics for aerospace embedded products, including microcontrollers and FPGAs.
  • Develop schematics and circuit designs.
  • Control subsystems such as BLDC motors and actuators.
  • Determine systems and hardware requirements from customer requirements and statements of work.
  • Prepare design documentation, project schedules, and test reports.
  • Design for rugged environments with considerations for temperature, EMC, ESD, and vibration.
  • Select components and perform derating for high reliability.
  • Generate test software for hardware design validation.
  • Create detailed bills of materials and assist in sourcing electronic components.
  • Troubleshoot electrical device problems efficiently.
  • Collaborate with PCB Layout Engineers to provide recommendations.

Essential Skills

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering, Bachelors degree strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of circuit design experience for embedded aerospace or vehicular systems.
  • Proficiency in embedded microcontrollers; debugging microcontrollers
