The Mill Accountant performs various accounting functions in support of the business objectives of the Mill. The Mill Accountant reports to the Mill Controller and is responsible for completing tasks as assigned by department management. The Mill Accountant is expected to interact with co-workers from all areas of the mill and company such as senior management, operations, mill management and human resources, etc. to develop solid working relationships with these individuals to increase departmental interactions and overall communication efforts.

Principle Accountabilities:
  • Prepare/assist with month-end closing journal entries & variance analyses.
  • Prepare/assist with operating forecasts.
  • Prepare other analyses as requested by department leadership.
  • Review accounts payable invoice for payments to vendors & fiber suppliers.
  • Prepare/assist with account reconciliations
  • Provide support and backup for payroll & billing, accounts payable, and mill stores/purchasing.
  • Support Key Control requirements.
  • Know and follow policies and procedures of the company, share information that would benefit other members of the team and find ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.
  • Strive to continually strengthen PCA's business philosophy of meeting needs and exceeding expectations for customers specifically supporting PCA's Commitment to Service which involves doing what's right for our customers, focusing on strategies that add value and support growth, and keeping the promises that we make.
  • Support Purchasing Manager to ensure the department is effectively operating.
Position Requirements:
  • Education equivalent to a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Two - 3 years of experience in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience in manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of standard financial/accounting procedures, GAAP concepts and principles, accounting procedures, and internal controls.
  • Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Working knowledge of general ledger financial systems and keeping accurate inventories.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate findings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle numerous details, deadlines, and requests.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer systems including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and accounting software required.
