Job Description
Join a dynamic team as a Sr. Cost Accountant, where you will resolve financial data issues and address critical problems efficiently. You will identify plant efficiencies and analyze operational variance trends to enhance profitability, collaborating with the Plant Leadership team to implement corrective actions. Your role includes conducting thorough analyses, providing data and reports on budget variances, and collaborating with operational personnel to follow up on corrective actions. Additionally, you will prepare detailed analyses by comparing actual financial results with budgeted and previous year results, and ensure compliance with policies during month-end closing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Resolve financial data issues and address critical problems in a timely manner.
- Identify plant efficiencies and operational variance trends to improve profitability.
- Collaborate with Plant Leadership on implementing corrective actions.
- Conduct analyses and provide data and reports on budget variances.
- Prepare detailed analyses comparing actual financial results with budgeted and previous year results.
- Perform month-end closing procedures ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and setting annual cost standards.
- Maintain and analyze standard costs linked to the annual budget.
- Support the development of new and revised standard product costs.
- Participate in local performance improvement projects and cost-saving opportunities.
- Understand and assist with maintaining the WCM cost deployment model.
- Support financial analysis and justifications for capital projects.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- 5–7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a high-volume plant.
- At least 2 years of cost accounting/management experience.
- Hands-on experience with SAP or comparable large ERP systems.
- Advanced analytical and data-driven mindset.
- Ability to multitask and deliver under tight month-end deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- CMA or CPA designation or a master's-level degree is a plus.
