Job Description

We are seeking skilled welders proficient in various techniques including MIG, TIG, flux core, and Metal Core Arc Welding (MCAW). Our welders primarily engage in MIG welding and will be responsible for welding splicing plates, rails, steel beams, beam connectors, expansion joints, and barring joints. This role involves working with cold rolled steel grade 50 steel, and involves cleaning and prepping steel using wire brushes, sandpaper, and angle grinders. Quality inspection using micrometers or calipers, tape measuring for cutting stock, and operating overhead cranes are also part of the job. Successful candidates will read blueprints and weld symbols, perform horizontal position welding, and get certified in 2G, D15, and D11.

Responsibilities

  • Weld splicing plates, rails, steel beams, beam connectors, expansion joints, and barring joints.
  • Work with cold rolled steel grade 50.
  • Clean and prep steel using wire brushes, sandpaper, and angle grinders.
  • Inspect quality using micrometers or calipers.
  • Measure and cut stock using tape measure.
  • Operate overhead crane to move parts.
  • Read blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Perform flat horizontal welds in horizontal position.
  • Use shop math to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa.

Essential Skills

  • 1 year of experience in MIG, TIG, flux core, or MCAW welding
  • Proficiency in welding on carbon steel and stainless steel.
  • Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and tape measures.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience welding 1" thick on carbon steel.
  • Shop math skills for converting fractions to decimals and vice versa.
  • Possession of own welding hood, gloves, and steel toe boots for interview/weld test.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certification in D15, D1.1, or bridge codes.
  • Experience with overhead cranes.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Baltimore, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
