Job Title: Commissioning Technicians
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commissioning Technicians to join our team. This role involves planning, coordinating, performing, and documenting all commissioning activities for utility substation protection, control, and power circuits. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in electrical protection systems and experience with various testing and commissioning services.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, perform, and document all commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through construction, testing, commissioning, energization, and project close out.
- Review wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering documents prior to project commencement.
- Troubleshoot and analyze problems associated with protection and control systems and utility substation equipment.
- Participate in project meetings including kickoff, planning, progress, and lessons learned meetings.
- Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and project completion reports documenting progress, issues, recommendations, and test results.
- Assist in developing project-specific testing and commissioning plans and energization plans.
- Identify risks and develop a Site Risk Assessment to document high-risk activities and ensure personnel safety.
- Ensure all tests and commissioning activities are performed and documented properly.
- Develop and review detailed test reports for various types of electrical equipment.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of experience in testing and commissioning services, preferably in the electric utility sector.
- Ability to read and understand construction and manufacturer drawings, specifications, and schematic diagrams.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn electrical protection systems, including relay communication.
- Understanding of AC/DC schematics and wiring, and one-line and three-line interconnection diagrams.
- Experience in medium and high voltage substation and power plant equipment.
- Familiarity with Doble Protection Suite, ProTest, SEL AcSELerator is highly preferred.
- US work eligibility and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Willingness to travel extensively for up to several weeks at a time.
- Availability to work flexible hours, weekends, overtime, holidays, and night shifts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with utility commissioning, relay, SCADA, and apparatus testing.
Work Environment
The position involves working on a project-to-project basis, primarily around the North Texas area, with all travel expenses covered. Expect a heavy workload with substantial overtime opportunities (50-60 hours standard)
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Tulsa, OK.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.
