We are partnering with a growing company seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support full‑cycle accounting operations and assist the Controller with daily and month‑end responsibilities. This position offers a flexible hybrid schedule, allowing you to work from home up to 3 days per week while contributing to a small, collaborative accounting team.
A major portion of this role—approximately 60%—will involve managing certified payroll for 30–35 employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support full-cycle accounting operations and assist with day-to-day and month-end responsibilities. This role has a strong focus on certified payroll and is ideal for someone with solid accounting experience who can work independently, manage details, and help alleviate workload bottlenecks within the accounting function.
Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle accounting duties including month-end close activities, journal entries, and reconciliation of credit card receipts.
- Process and track insurance bills.
- Support and collaborate closely with the team, assisting with accounting tasks that require follow-through and attention to detail.
- Manage certified payroll activities, which comprise approximately 60% of the role.
- Coordinate payroll data with Paylocity, an external payroll provider.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with applicable accounting and payroll regulations.
- Utilize accounting systems and tools efficiently to support reporting and operational needs.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in full-cycle accounting, general ledger, month-end procedures, and certified payroll.
- Experience with ERP and payroll systems.
- Familiarity with robust accounting systems such as Oracle or NetSuite.
- Working knowledge of Excel for efficient data handling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Unanet and Viewpoint is a plus.
- QuickBooks experience alone is not sufficient; familiarity with more robust systems is preferred.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
