Material Handler - Yard Worker

Job Description

The Material Handler / Receiving Associate is responsible for efficiently receiving, inspecting, and organizing raw materials, components, and finished goods for a fencing manufacturing facility. This role ensures accurate inventory control, timely material flow to production, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Unload incoming shipments and verify quantities against purchase orders.
• Inspect materials for damage or defects and report discrepancies.
• Accurately record received materials in the inventory system.
• Maintain organized storage areas for raw materials and finished goods.
• Safely move materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
• Stage materials for production according to work orders.
• Complete receiving logs and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate shortages, overages, or quality issues to the supervisor.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Ensure proper handling of hazardous materials when applicable.

Essential Skills

• Experience in warehouse operations and general labor.
• Proficiency in operating a forklift.
• Competence in material handling and kitting.
• Experience with shipping processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience operating a forklift is required.
• Ability to provide customer service as needed.
• Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Capability to wear full rain gear and load flatbed trailers in the rain.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of large warehouses with multiple buildings, requiring movement of parts between them. This position involves working both inside and outside, with a need to adapt to varying weather conditions and wear appropriate gear.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clackamas, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
