Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Logistics Coordinator to oversee and manage the dispatching of drivers and vehicles according to predetermined schedules and customer requests. This role involves supervising, scheduling, and dispatching operations while maintaining clear communication with drivers, supervisors, and customers to resolve any issues that arise.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and dispatch drivers and vehicles to designated locations based on schedules and requests.
- Relay work orders and messages to drivers and supervisors using telephones and emails.
- Communicate with supervisors and customers to address problems and service requests.
- Prepare daily schedules and work orders for drivers.
- Organize and maintain dispatch requests and customer communications.
- Schedule fleet maintenance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Track trucking assets such as trucks and trailers.
- Perform project management and administrative tasks as needed.
- Provide coverage for administrative responsibilities.
- Seek continuous process improvements.
- Maintain punctual and reliable attendance.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Essential Skills
- 2 years of dispatching experience or relevant administrative experience.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Direct communication skills and excellent follow-up abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Experience with logistics coordination and customer service.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
- Proficiency in using Outlook and Google Sheets.
- Experience in shipping, receiving, and transportation order entry.
- Project coordination skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (ROM) and Google Maps.
Work Environment
The position involves working three days a week in Tualatin, one day in Portland, and one day in Hillsboro, with flexibility after training. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with an 8-hour shift. You will be supporting a team of four drivers with various vehicles, coordinating routes within ROM and using Google Maps and Excel. Training will occur over 90 days, focusing on successful dispatching and building relationships with drivers.
