Actalent is currently seeking a qualified Electrical Cad Technician for a position in the Portland Metro.


As a CAD Technician, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team that supports innovative engineering projects. You will be responsible for drafting and designing substations for local utilities nationwide, utilizing your basic technical knowledge and electronic applications.


Responsibilities

  • Develop familiarity with engineering standards by reading, understanding, and maintaining a working knowledge of systems, document control, departmental guides, and policies and procedures.
  • Ensure deliverables are accurate and compliant by understanding and complying with the company’s quality program.
  • Support continuous improvement and change management efforts by demonstrating personal accuracy.
  • Learn applications required to modify less complex deliverables based on various design inputs.
  • Identify the needs of internal clients and gain a basic understanding of external clients' main interests and drivers.
  • Proactively seek and share knowledge of the latest technologies and processes.

Essential Skills

  • 2-5 years of experience in substation drafting.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of client standards, MicroStation, Autodesk Inventor, SDS.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate preferred.
  • Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
  • 3-5 years of substation drafting experience preferred.
  • Experience with drafting software: AutoCAD SDS, AutoCAD Electrical, MicroStation, or Inventor.
  • Preferred non-technical skills: Learning on the Fly, Problem Solving, Perseverance, Patience, Time Management, Drive for Results, Self Development, Listening, Informing.
  • Preferred technical skills: Working knowledge of Computer Automated Drafting Design (CADD) or other applications or design or modeling skills.

Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid work environment, with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote. The office is newly renovated, featuring open spaces, collaborative work areas, single-use offices, and comfortable workspaces with bean bag chairs. Additionally, the work schedule allows for flexibility, with options to start early and leave early, and provides opportunities for professional development through free courses and certifications.
