Job Title: Human Resources Benefits SpecialistJob Description

The Human Resources Benefits Specialist will direct and plan the day-to-day operations of all benefits programs, ensuring seamless management and compliance with all regulations. The role involves overseeing the open enrollment process, managing benefits policies and procedures, and collaborating with various teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and plan the day-to-day operations of all benefits programs including group health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, flexible and health spending accounts, and 403(b).
  • Manage the open enrollment process.
  • Assist in benefits policies and procedures, training, orientation, compliance, and employee recognition.
  • Work with the Payroll Manager to ensure benefits accuracy in Paycom and benefit invoicing.
  • Oversee processes for implementing benefits programs and maintaining compliance with HIPAA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, OFLA, ADA, and other regulations.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of benefits-related costs and collaborate with Accounting and Payroll teams for reconciliations.
  • Partner with insurance brokers to negotiate competitive pricing and favorable contract terms.
  • Participate in RPC and RPAC committee meetings for retirement plan compliance.
  • Communicate benefit options and changes to employees through various channels.
  • Analyze benefits data to make informed decisions about plan design and adjustments.
  • Coordinate enrollment and eligibility processes for new hires and qualifying life events.
  • Administer benefits claims and resolve any issues or disputes.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to develop and implement a benefits strategy aligned with university goals and values.
  • Manage the accommodation process for all ADA requests and mentor HR staff on talent acquisition and problem-solving.
  • Plan and execute benefits fairs and similar initiatives.
  • Share knowledge and insights with HR colleagues professionally.
  • Assist in recommending and implementing best practice policies and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all staff and management.
  • Actively seek out knowledge to broaden HR skills and work with the HR Director on new initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • 3 - 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Human Resources best practices and federal/state employment laws and regulations governing benefits.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Excellent organizational, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems timely.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and circumstances, including escalated issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with onboarding, offboarding, and administrative support.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and data entry.
  • Customer service skills and HR generalist experience.
Work Environment

This role is set in a typical office environment with moderate noise from office equipment. The position requires regular verbal and written communication, frequent walking and standing, and occasional bending. Consistent use of fingers and hands for typing and regular use of computer screens is necessary. Benefits include tuition reimbursement upon direct hire, six holidays while on contract, and accrued sick time.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mcminnville, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.85/hr.
