Job Description
The Leasing Consultant serves as the first point of contact for current and prospective residents, delivering exceptional customer service and supporting a positive community experience. In this role, you partner closely with the Community Manager on resident relations initiatives while handling a variety of administrative, leasing, and marketing tasks. You help ensure apartments are leased efficiently, resident needs are addressed promptly, and the community remains well-presented and competitive in the local market.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional, friendly, and timely customer service to current and prospective residents in person, by phone, and online.
- Lease apartments to prospective residents, including conducting initial meetings, giving property and unit tours, answering questions, and guiding applicants through the screening and approval process.
- Coordinate and monitor move-ins and move-outs, ensuring all required documentation and steps are completed accurately and on time.
- Administer work orders and unit turnovers by accurately documenting requests, communicating with appropriate teams, and tracking completion.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office, lobby, and clubhouse environment for residents and visitors.
- Use Microsoft Office applications to enter data, create documents, prepare reports, and schedule appointments.
- Enter and update resident, prospect, and property information in databases with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Create presentations and other materials to support leasing, resident events, and community initiatives.
- Update the company website and social media channels with current property information, photos, and online advertising content to attract prospective residents.
- Stay informed about local market conditions and comparable properties, and understand how the community positions itself against competition.
- Understand and comply with Fair Housing laws and all applicable housing-related regulations in daily leasing and resident interactions.
- Effectively manage and prioritize daily tasks and schedule to meet deadlines and leasing goals.
- Consistently meet or exceed established leasing quotas and performance targets.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of resident and applicant information and all sensitive business data.
- Support resident relations initiatives, including communication, events, and community-building activities as needed.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of experience in a sales environment.
- At least one year of experience in a customer service role.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with residents and prospects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, for data entry, document creation, and scheduling.
- Accurate data entry skills and attention to detail in maintaining records and databases.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with residents, prospects, and team members.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work independently within established guidelines.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn and comply with Fair Housing laws and other applicable housing regulations.
- Comfort with sales-related activities, including presenting property features, handling objections, and closing leases.
- Experience in property management, leasing, hospitality, or a similar customer-facing environment.
- Background in administrative support, including filing, organizing documents, and managing office processes.
- Familiarity with updating websites and social media platforms for marketing and online advertising.
- Experience supporting community events, resident activities, or hospitality services.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and residents.
- Motivation to meet goals and contribute to a values-based, growth-oriented work culture.
- Interest in long-term career growth within residential property management.
This is an on-site position based in an office within a residential apartment community. The standard schedule runs Friday through Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with Wednesdays and Thursdays typically off. The role involves a blend of desk-based administrative work and time spent walking the property to provide tours of apartments and community amenities. You regularly use computers, office software, phones, and standard office equipment to manage leasing and resident relations tasks. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
