Job Title: Data Architect

Job Description

We are seeking a Data Architect with strong operational technology experience to design and manage data infrastructure supporting manufacturing systems. This role bridges the gap between industrial control systems and enterprise data platforms, enabling real-time insights, process optimization, and data-driven decision-making. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions that support critical operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain data architecture for manufacturing systems, including real-time and batch data flows.
  • Develop and manage data integration pipelines from sensors, PLCs, SCADA, and enterprise systems.
  • Oversee database design, performance, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Implement data governance policies for quality, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and IT to define data requirements and integration strategies.
  • Build logical and physical data models aligned with operational workflows.
  • Optimize performance of data pipelines and storage systems.
  • Document architecture, models, and best practices.
  • Provide on-call support for critical incidents.
  • Lead technical solutions for control systems, including PLC/HMI programming and hardware specification.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture, systems integration, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial control systems.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data integration tools (e.g., Kafka).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and time-series/NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in food & beverage or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and advanced analytics.
  • Experience with big data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Knowledge of electrical design and control panel layouts.

Work Environment

The position involves working in both manufacturing and office environments. Travel between sites may be required until systems are fully set up. The role supports a growing team focused on increasing automation and efficiency.

Compensation:$80
