Job Description

As a Field Service Technician, you will execute commissioning and startup procedures for electrical power systems to ensure proper functionality, performance optimization, and regulatory compliance. Your role involves diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical, electrical, hardware, software, and integrated system failures using troubleshooting methodologies. You will conduct comprehensive equipment testing to validate operational integrity, identify inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions. Additionally, you will generate detailed technical documentation for all service interventions, including fault analysis, corrective measures, and compliance reporting. Providing expert recommendations on system enhancements, upgrades, and proactive maintenance strategies to customer technical inquiries is also a key responsibility.


Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning and startup procedures for electrical power systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hardware, software, and integrated system failures.
  • Conduct comprehensive equipment testing to validate operational integrity.
  • Generate detailed technical documentation for all service interventions.
  • Address customer technical inquiries with expert recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the team, sharing critical system insights and troubleshooting findings.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of electrical field service experience.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers.
  • Willingness to work overtime and non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Availability to travel extensively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in power generation/backup power.
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering or Military background
  • Experience with fluid systems.
  • Experience with SAP/ERP for managing service workflows, inventory tracking, and maintenance documentation.

Work Environment

This position involves up to 90% domestic travel, with some potential travel to North and South America if needed. The team consists of 11 other field service technicians/engineers. Travel includes driving to customer sites typically within 4 hours, with flights for longer distances. The role requires 55-60 hours of work per week, including potential weekends and holidays, with a flexible schedule that mirrors customer business hours. Training is provided for up to a month in Cleveland, with shadowing of existing team members. The company is transitioning from Excel to SAP Field Service Management in August. Customers include data centers, healthcare, and government sectors, with some sites having challenging conditions.
