Phlebotomist II - Silverton

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team. This position involves working in a third-party clinic focusing on women's health and reproductive care, as well as in a Patient Service Center in Hood River. You will play a crucial role in providing exceptional healthcare services to our patients.



Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly as they arrive at the lab.
  • Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
  • Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
  • Decontaminate and update patient information as needed.
  • Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
  • Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
  • Ensure all laboratory requisition forms match specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as per test order requirements.
  • Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
  • Package specimens properly for transport.
  • Store specimen samples at the required temperature and place them in the appropriate collection container or tube.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
  • Handle telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to patients.
  • Prepare the site for procedures, manage insurance, billing, and process samples.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients.


Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in drawing blood and phlebotomy techniques.
  • Experience with venipuncture, using both straight and butterfly needles.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow physicians' orders.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and patient information management.
  • Experience with data entry and specimen processing.


Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy certification.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
  • Previous customer service experience in any setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to take feedback well and eagerness to learn.
  • Patient-first mindset.
  • Positive, hardworking personality that takes initiative and works well with others.
  • Proven reliability and positive attendance record.


Work Environment

This position is part of a strong team environment within a global company, offering opportunities for growth and movement into different departments such as lab, sales, and client services. The contract duration is initially slated for 3 months, with potential extensions based on business needs and performance. While primarily based at one location, there may be rare instances where floating to a nearby location is required. This is a Contract position based out of Silverton, Oregon.


Compensation:$22.46
