Job Title: Phlebotomist II - Tualatin

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at a reputable laboratory in Tualatin. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for performing blood draws, labeling specimens, and maintaining accurate records, while providing exceptional customer service to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients as they arrive at the lab and explain procedures clearly and courteously.
  • Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Collect, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to established procedures and test orders.
  • Ensure accuracy by matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and checking all test requisitions against scripts.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature to maintain integrity.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department training sessions.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to callers.
  • Prepare sites for blood draws, handle insurance and billing processes, and process samples efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patients.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6+ months of phlebotomy experience, including proficiency with straight and butterfly needles.
  • Ability to handle difficult draws such as scar tissue, rolling veins, pediatric, and geriatric patients.
  • Experience with 20–50+ draws per shift in high-pressure environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • National Phlebotomy Certification (NHA, ASCP) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Ability to navigate EMR systems and troubleshoot technology issues.
  • Experience with scanners, tablets, computers, EMRs, and LIS systems.
  • Patient-first mindset with compassion and professionalism.
  • Adaptability and teamwork in diverse environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage workload independently.
  • Proven reliability and strong attendance record.
  • Flexibility to move between sites and handle staffing shortages.
  • Resilience to maintain productivity under pressure.

Work Environment

The position is located at a laboratory in Tualatin. The work schedule is from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday to Friday, and every other weekend and potential holiday work as needed. The initial contract duration is 3 months, with a possibility of extension based on performance and business needs. The laboratory offers a strong team culture with opportunities for growth and movement into different departments.

This is a Contract position based out of Tualatin, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.11/hr.
