Job Title: Shop Mechanic
Job Description
The Shop Mechanic inspects, disassembles, repairs, and reassembles a wide range of electric motors, pumps, and other electro-mechanical rotating equipment. This role focuses on troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, performing precise repairs, and using specialized test equipment to ensure all units operate safely and reliably. You will work in an industrial shop environment on equipment such as water and sewer pumps, with potential placement in transit, industrial, HVAC, or generator-focused work depending on your experience with motors, mechanical systems, and electrical components.
Shift: 6am-2:30pm; Monday-Friday
Pay range: $20-$25/ hour based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble electric motors, pumps, and related electro-mechanical rotating equipment for inspection, cleaning, and repair.
- Clean, inspect, and evaluate components to identify wear, damage, and root causes of mechanical or electrical failures.
- Repair or replace worn or defective mechanical and electrical parts and assemblies, including brushes, bearings, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, tachometers, and fans.
- Test electro-mechanical rotating equipment (AC and DC) to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various diagnostic methods and test equipment.
- Reassemble motors, pumps, and other equipment to precise specifications, ensuring proper alignment, clearances, and safe operation.
- Operate specialized repair and testing equipment such as test panels, surge testers, core loss testers, burnout ovens, cut-off saws, grinders, drills, cranes, forklift trucks, torches, dip tanks, and VPI systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair various electro-mechanical rotating equipment, including systems involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical controls.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics to guide disassembly, repair, and reassembly work.
- Perform basic fabrication tasks as needed to support repairs or modifications to equipment and components.
- Follow all operational and safety procedures, including safe use of tools, lifting equipment, and shop machinery.
- Work collaboratively with the department supervisor and team members to prioritize work orders and meet production and repair deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and care for assigned tools and equipment.
- Support both transit and industrial work as needed, including HVAC, industrial motor, and generator-related repairs, based on skill set and departmental assignment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Camp Hill, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $61000.00/yr.
