Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanic will support Plant 4 by planning, laying out, performing, and overseeing a wide range of maintenance assignments, including machining, welding, electrical work, pipefitting, and general facility upkeep. This role installs, erects, assembles, levels, and aligns machinery and plant or office equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation in a demanding manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan, lay out, perform, and oversee maintenance work assignments involving machining, welding, electrical work, pipefitting, and general maintenance tasks.
- Install, erect, assemble, level, and align all machinery, production equipment, and plant or office equipment as needed.
- Plan and execute jobs assigned by maintenance leadership, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Order and pick up parts required to complete maintenance and repair activities.
- Create sketches of repair parts or fabrication components to support machining and fabrication work.
- Operate shop equipment such as drill presses, lathes, grinders, belt sanders, mills, and other standard machine shop tools.
- Repair and maintain basic electrical components, including working with 480V and 3-phase motors.
- Calibrate scales and other production or plant equipment to ensure accurate and reliable operation.
- Repair and maintain material handling equipment (MHE), including forklifts and conveyor systems.
- Follow all maintenance manuals, service manuals, blueprints, sketches, and electrical schematics when performing work.
- Perform troubleshooting on both mechanical and electrical systems, providing well-rounded diagnostic and repair capabilities.
- Adhere to preventive maintenance schedules and document work performed to minimize equipment downtime.
- Support general facility maintenance, which may include tasks such as snow removal and grass mowing during downtime.
- Participate in required safety orientations and training, and strictly follow safety procedures when working with high voltage and in hazardous areas.
- Climb and work at heights as needed, including accessing silos up to approximately 70 feet.
- Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to resolve equipment issues and improve reliability.
Essential Skills
- At least 3 years of experience as a mechanic or technician in an industrial facility.
- Strong mechanical maintenance skills, including troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Experience working with conveyor belts and related material handling systems.
- Ability to perform forklift repairs and maintain other material handling equipment.
- Proficiency in operating shop equipment such as drill presses, lathes, grinders, belt sanders, and mills.
- Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to preventive maintenance schedules.
- Experience working with 480V electrical systems and 3-phase motors.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maintenance manuals, service manuals, and electrical schematics.
- Competence in basic electrical repair and maintenance.
- Ability to plan, lay out, and oversee work assignments across machining, welding, electrical, and general maintenance tasks.
- Solid troubleshooting skills across both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Comfort working in a dirty, dusty industrial environment and around carbon black.
- Ability and willingness to work at heights, including climbing silos.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a Class 1, Division 1 manufacturing environment or other hazardous locations.
- Background in welding and fabrication, including making sketches of repair and fabrication parts.
- Familiarity with calibrating scales and industrial equipment.
- Experience working with higher voltage systems, with a strong focus on safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively with a team.
- Flexibility to work different shifts and participate in training on daylight hours during an initial probationary period.

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Carlisle, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $78936.00 - $81016.00/yr.
There are multiple grades for the role and candidates can progress through work hours completed and pay will increase accordingly.
