Job Description
The Engineering Repair Technician conducts, maintains, tests, and repairs electrical and electronic components at an advanced level. This role focuses on diagnosing issues down to the component level, performing precise soldering and de-soldering work, and ensuring all repairs meet established quality and performance standards. The technician also supports and trains other technicians while working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Test, diagnose, and repair a wide range of electronic components with a focus on component-level troubleshooting.
- Analyze complex electronic issues down to the component level and determine effective repair strategies.
- Resolve intricate technical challenges through systematic troubleshooting and use of appropriate test equipment.
- Interpret and work from sophisticated electronic schematics and documentation to perform accurate repairs.
- Perform skilled soldering and de-soldering on printed circuit boards (PCBs), including surface-mount and through-hole components.
- Provide training, guidance, and technical support to other technicians on repair processes and best practices.
- Comply with all quality performance standards and ensure repaired units meet or exceed required specifications.
- Handle hard drive devices and adhere strictly to electrostatic discharge (ESD) policy standards during all repair activities.
- Maintain the work area, tools, and equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Utilize analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills to manage and complete multiple repair tasks simultaneously.
- Document work performed as required and communicate status or issues to appropriate team members.
- Work effectively both autonomously and within a team to meet production and quality goals.
- Minimum of a 2-year Electronics degree or equivalent electronics certification.
- At least 2+ years of experience as a proficient electronics technician.
- Ability to pass a Technical Aptitude Test, when applicable.
- Thorough comprehension of various technology systems and applications, including in-depth knowledge of electronic circuit componentry and theory.
- Proficiency in utilizing electronic test equipment for diagnostics and verification.
- Advanced skill in soldering and de-soldering techniques for PCB repair.
- Experience with surface-mount and through-hole soldering on printed circuit boards.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electronic assemblies down to the component level.
- Ability to handle hard drive devices while maintaining strict adherence to ESD policy standards.
- Strong analytical thinking and robust problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a team.
- High level of thoroughness and attention to detail in completing tasks and repairs.
- Experience in component-level repair of a variety of electronic devices.
- Skilled in soldering and de-soldering for rework and repair of complex PCBs.
- Familiarity with interpreting sophisticated schematics and technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills to provide training and support to other technicians.
- Commitment to maintaining high quality standards and following established processes.
- Organizational skills to keep work area and equipment clean, orderly, and efficient.
This position operates in a professional electronics repair and engineering environment focused on servicing high-volume telecommunications and broadband equipment. The role involves working primarily on a 1st shift schedule, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The technician works at an electronics workstation equipped with test instruments, soldering and de-soldering tools, and ESD-protected areas for handling sensitive components and hard drive devices. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to ESD and quality standards, with a culture that supports teamwork, technical development, and continuous improvement.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coatesville, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
