Job Title: Environmental Technician


Job Description

Join a dynamic team where you will play a crucial role in environmental projects, working both in the field and office. Your expertise will be vital in NPDES and EPA permitting for residential developments, particularly in Pennsylvania, with Ohio experience considered a plus. You will be involved in PADEP Chapter 102 and 105 permitting processes, Army Corp of Engineers 404 permitting requirements, wetland field determinations, and stream restoration design.


Responsibilities

  • Support site/land development, municipal, and environmental projects.
  • Perform laboratory and field tests to monitor the environment and investigate sources of pollution.
  • Conduct inspections of manholes to locate sewer line stoppages.
  • Identify and classify streams, including stream morphology.
  • Manage erosion and sedimentation.
  • Handle surface mining permits and ensure environmental compliance.
  • Conduct biological assessments and surveys.
  • Consult and coordinate on rare, threatened, and endangered species.
  • Identify invasive species and macroinvertebrates, including enumeration and taxonomic classification.
  • Perform wetland delineation and design stream restoration projects.
  • Work in confined spaces and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Biology.
  • 1-2 years of field experience.
  • Knowledge of NPDES and EPA permitting.
  • Experience with PADEP Chapter 102 and 105 permitting requirements.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Army Corp of Engineers 404 permitting.
  • Experience in wetland field determinations and categorization.
  • Stream morphology and restoration design expertise.
  • Experience in environmental compliance and inspection.
  • Skill in identifying invasive species and macroinvertebrates.

Work Environment

You will be part of a large civil engineering and environmental firm, working 50% of the time in the field and 50% in the office. Collaboration with a teammate is essential, and travel is required half the time. This role offers the opportunity to grow within the company and develop a wide range of skills.
