Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant

Job Description

The Senior Cost Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting manufacturing operations by analyzing and monitoring costs related to labor, materials, and overhead. This position involves preparing detailed cost reports and variance analyses, comparing actual results to standard costs. The individual will refine cost accounting systems to ensure precise job costing and inventory valuation. Collaboration with operations and production teams is essential to identify cost-saving opportunities. Additional responsibilities include developing and maintaining standard costing models, participating in budgeting and forecasting related to production and cost of goods sold (COGS), and reconciling inventory accounts with monthly valuations. The role also requires support for the month-end close process through account reconciliation and recording of journal entries.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and monitor manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead.
• Prepare detailed cost reports and variance analyses comparing actual results to standard costs.
• Build and refine cost accounting systems for accurate job costing and inventory valuation.
• Collaborate with operations and production teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop and maintain standard costing models.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting related to production and COGS.
• Reconcile inventory accounts with monthly valuations.
• Support the month-end close by reconciling accounts and recording journal entries.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in cost analysis, standard costing, COGS, reconciliations, and inventory valuation.
• Ability to create pivot tables and Vlookups in Excel.
• Experience with large-scale ERP systems such as SAP, Infor, Oracle, Workday, SAGE, Great Plains, or Microsoft Dynamics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• Experience working for a company with revenue over $50 million.
• 5+ years of standard costing, inventory valuation and analysis, cost analysis, reconciliations, and journal entry experience.
• Experience with ERP implementation.
